The Homestay is in Alameda, an Island Community across the Bay from San Francisco and divided from Oakland by the Estuary. Transportation to other cities is via ACTransit Bus System which connect to BART stations that are located in Oakland. BART will take you to SF, throughout Alameda County, Contra Costa County, and the South Bay.
The accommodations are 2 furnished rooms. The bedding includes a bed, mattress pad, warm blankets, sheets and pillows.
The 2 rooms have windows that open, closet space and private entrance to the upstairs loft in the dining room.
The floors are carpeted and the seating comfortable. It is furnished, the pictures do not show that.
The living room, dining room, kitchen, shared bathroom and the hosts' bedroom are on the first floor.
There are 3 dogs and 1 cat. They are confined to their spaces and will not enter your space.
The hostess is an interior designer and speaks Japanese, her 1st language.
The host works in retail and is an artist.
I, the owner of the house, hosted students for 5 years. It was a wonderful experience learning the culture of many countries right in my own home. The students were from Japan, Brazil, Turkey, S. Korea, Taiwan, Switzerland and France. I have traveled to Mexico, Canada, England, Eastern Europe including Hungary, Bratislava, Austria, Cesky Krumlov, & Prague. I have traveled extensively in the United States 40+ of the states including Alaska and Hawaii.
I attend a Lutheran Church on Sundays and I am an active member. My home is a block away from the homestay and I have a daycare for children 3months - 4 years old. I have 9 grandchildren, Kyle the host is my oldest grandson.
Our house rules are simple. Respect each other, clean up after yourself, leave a place better then you found it and be a responsible person in the home taking care of the house as if it was yours.
